If you are like us, you are constantly on the hunt for new music and your tastes are changing all the time. You've come to the right place. As much as possible, we'll throw up a song that we currently can't get enough of, ranging from hip hop to bluegrass. But no country. Never. Country.
SOD Playlist!
Hey folks, We added a link to my youtube playlist so you don't have to click through all these posts to listen to every song. Check it out here: Song of the Day
Update: Youtube won't let me add more than 200 songs to a playlist, so I made another: Song of the Day 2

Young the Giant - Cough Syrup
I meant to put this song up here earlier but I kept finding new stuff that sort of pushed it to the back burner. Do yourself a favor and listen to the entire album..

Dr. Dog - Heart it Races
This is one of those cases where the cover of a song is 10X better than the original (by Architecture and Helsinki).

Electric Guest - The Head I Hold
Can't help but move your body to this groove. Move your feet monday! That sounds cool, maybe I'll start that.

Bronze Radio Return - Down There
Thanks to my friend Erin, I just bought my ticket to see these guys in Kansas City in a few weeks. Both of the albums this band has put out are amazing, with my two other favorite tracks being "Lo-Fi" (I haven't been able to find it on youtube) and "Warm Day, Cold War". Check 'em out.

Minus the Bear - Pachuca Sunrise
The verses of this song are amazing, and always remind me of summers and my time spent abroad.

Madcon - Liar
I'm a sucker for any hip hop group that has a live band and uses sick nasty bass lines, which Madcon does on pretty much every song. If you like this, you absolutely have to check out their cover of "Beggin" by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Its amazing.

Fujiya & Miyagi - Collarbone
I got caught in the office a few weeks ago singing "sock it to me now" along with this song. It was embarrassing but I think you'll find you can't help but sing along as well. Also check out "Ankle Injuries", if only for how cool the music video is.

Jones Street Station - The Understanding
This is what I found when I finally listened to the recommended new artists Spotify shows me. I think I'll be doing that from now on.

Crystal Fighters - At Home
This is one of those way out there weird songs that somehow managed to make it into a constant rotation on my playlists during work.

The Rifles - Toe Rag
I heard one song from these guys called "Local Boy" on Pandora a year or so ago and was immediately hooked. From what I can tell, this song is about work life and how the days are all the same, which I think most of us can relate to. The entire album is absolutely amazing, but specifically check out "Out in the Past" and "Winter Calls". Their newest album isn't too bad either.

Alabama Shakes - Hold On
This weekend, I think we all need to cut loose and catch a case of the Alabama Shakes.

Ra Ra Riot - Can You Tell
These guys (or guys and girls actually) are just too damn happy and make songs too damn catchy not to enjoy. It doesn't hurt that the two women are babes.

Bombay Bicycle Club - Shuffle
This band is one of the most unique groups I've heard in a long time. One day I went through and listened to the majority of what they have on Spotify, and there was a lot of "WTF is going on here" mixed with "Oh wow that's pretty neat!" This was one of those neat songs, and hot damn is it catchy. Also check out "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep" and "Lights Out, Words Gone" if you are looking to explore some new tastes.

The Temper Trap - Fader
A lot of people know The Temper Trap for the song "Sweet Disposition", but I'm not sure many people have listened to the full album that song came off of. This is one of my favorite songs on the album, along with "Resurrection."

Wolf Gang - The King and All of His Men
I know its Monday and its snowing (at least here in KC), but that doesn't need to stop you from having a little dance party inside your headphones. Wolf Gang is here to help.

Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks
I think I've listened to this song at least 4 times a day for the past month and a half.

Walk the Moon - Anna Sun
Right now my shower playlist pretty much consists of two songs, this one and "Jenny" also by Walk the Moon. I hope all you can think about when you listen to this is me in the shower now. ZING!

Crash Kings - It's Only Wednesday
This is what pops into my head pretty much every hump day. We are half way there fellow working folk.

Trampled by Turtles - Valley
Lately I've been getting into a lot of bluegrass music for some reason. This song makes me want to buy a pair of overalls, a cowboy hat, and a mandolin (basically just be the guy on the far left)and just sit on my porch in the woods all day. For a more up beat song, check out "Wait So Long".

Anberlin - Burn Out Brighter (Northern Lights)
I just recently rediscovered Anberlin on my drive back home this weekend. These guys were the first concert I ever went to in college and they were absolutely amazing. The CD "New Surrender" was the soundtrack for pretty much every trip I ever took from Ames to back home, and from upbeat tracks like this, to the last song (about the apocalypse), it remains one of my favorite albums of all time.

Love Spit Love - Am I Wrong
Almost didn't get a song in today since I was hungover and spent half of it in a car. Last night I saw some of the movie "Jurassic Park", and seeing that niece of the old man reminded me that she was in one of my all time favorite childhood movies "Angus." I used to watch it every year for my birthday. This version of Love Spit Love's (its not Love Spit One)"Am I Wrong" isn't as high quality as the actual album version, but it IS the version they use in the opening scene of the movie which has all the horns and drums I love.

Rumspringa - Shake 'Em Loose Tonight
It took me a few times to listen to this to really start to like it, and by then the song was absolutely infectious. There are actually two different recorded versions of the song (besides this live one), one from the EP and one from the album "Sway". Both are great, and pretty much every other day I change my mind on which one I like better.

Mando Diao - Before Rock 'n' Roll
In this video, Mando Diao gives us an in depth lesson on how to rock the shit out of your acoustic guitar. At first it was really hard to decided between this song, "God Knows", and "Mr. Moon" by these guys, but ultimately once I saw this live video the decision was a lot easier.

Doves - Kingdom of Rust
Its already getting hard to decide what song to throw up here each day. This was a gem that reminds me of the days sitting in my room playin super smash bros, with my bros, with the Zombieland soundtrack blaring in the background. When the guitar comes crashing in at around 2:12...epic.

Atlas Genius - Trojans
Every once in awhile, when I'm hitting the "next" button over and over and over and over again on Spotify radio, and I'm thinking to myself "Oh my god, there are literally NO MOAR NEW SONGS IN THE WORLD", something like this pops up. And I think to myself....I don't really care if there are any more songs, because I will listen to this forever.
